Select clashing against Mbare Select, in a high-profile off-season challenge match.
The two teams will battle it out for the US$1 000 cheque.
Mabvuku will field players like Tinei Chatora, Simon Choenda, the Mugeyi twins – Wilfred and William – the Chimedza siblings – Cephas and Elton – among several other players.
Mbare will have Edward Sadomba, Denver Mukamba, Devon Chafa, and a number of Premiership and foreign-based players.
Tendai “T-Bunz” Zhakata, the match organiser, said they were expecting a huge turnout.
‘The idea is to take soccer to the people as some people and we are bringing the role models to the people with this tournament,” said Zhakata.
“This will also help to influence young kids in the area, who are on school holiday, to take up sport seriously.
“The game is likely to be very competitive as we are taking of the big stars from the two ghettos, which have a rich history of producing good players.
“We urge all the supporters to come in their numbers and support their players.”
