THE Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) has announced that physical ticket sales will be available at Barbourfields Stadium on match day following a low uptake of advance tickets for Sunday’s blockbuster clash between Highlanders and Dynamos.
The league attributed the poor pre-match ticket sales to the uncertainty caused by the recent industrial action by Highlanders players, which left many supporters unsure whether the match would proceed as scheduled.
Speaking after a pre-match meeting, PSL chief executive officer Rodwell Thabe said the league had resolved to introduce physical ticket sales at the stadium to accommodate supporters who had delayed purchasing tickets.
“We agreed at our pre-match meeting to have physical ticket sales because our numbers for pre-match ticket sales were very, very low due to the industrial action at Highlanders. Those with pre-match tickets will have special gates,” said Thabe.
He said advance ticket sales would close at 10am on Sunday, after which supporters wishing to attend the country’s biggest football fixture would be able to purchase tickets at designated points at Barbourfields Stadium.
The introduction of physical ticket sales is expected to ease access for fans and help boost attendance at the highly anticipated encounter between the country’s two traditional football giants.
The PSL had initially encouraged supporters to purchase tickets in advance through its online and pre-generated ticketing platforms, which are designed to enhance convenience and curb ticket fraud through a QR code validation system.
