Bulawayo soccer lovers will witness the second derby when log leaders Highlanders play host to neighbours Chicken Inn at Barbourfields Stadium.
The cancelled matches are for clubs with a minimum of three players in camp for the Warriors match.
FC Platinum, who are coached by Warriors’ caretaker mentor Rahman Gumbo, have two players but their match against Quelaton set for Mandava Stadium has also been postponed.
FC Platinum have Charles Sibanda and surprise call up, Welcome Ndiweni, the same number of players as Chicken Inn and Caps United.
The other postponed matches involve Harare giants, Dynamos’ game against Harare City and the battle of the miners, Hwange and Shabanie Mine.
Dynamos and Hwange have three players each in Gumbo’s squad. DeMbare provided Takesure Chinyama, Denver Mukamba and Patson Jaure while Chipangano have veteran goalkeeper, Timothy Sibanda, strikers Rodwell Chinyengetere and Francisco Zvikumbawire.
The weekend matches might see some significant changes in the shape of the log standings with a seemingly resurgent Caps United, labelled dead and buried after their dismal start to the season, set to be level on points with second-placed Dynamos who have 17 points. Makepekepe are however, away to unpredictable newboys, Hardbody at Ascot Stadium.
Highlanders who top the log with a five-point gap, might extend their lead to eight points although the match like any derby is unpredictable and like their coach Adam Ndlovu said after the 1-0 win over Black Mambas, the boys will be highly motivated.
Highlanders though, have been merciless against their opponents so far, with eight wins in nine outings and at the same time scoring an incredible 22 goals, 10 shy of their season’s tally of last year.
