THE Castle Lager Premiership fixtures are set to take a backseat for the coming two weeks to accommodate the Chibuku Super Cup and the inaugural Munhumutapa Challenge Cup matches.
The Chibuku Super Cup kicks off this Wednesday with the bottom four teams as at week 17 facing off in a preliminary round.
This will see TelOne and Triangle clashing at Mandava while AGAMA and Manica Diamonds square off at Ngoni.
Winners will progress to the round of 16 draw where they will be paired with the teams that occupied the top 14 places at the halfway stage.
After Wednesday’s Chibuku Super Cup preliminary matches, the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup will then take centre stage this weekend with the round of 32 featuring the 18 PSL sides and the 14 teams that qualified from the lower tiers.
The Chibuku Super Cup will resume the weekend of August 15 to 16, with PSL Week 27 matches set to return on August 22.
The rest of the season calendar will be released once the dates for the COSAFA Cup and the CAF interclub competitions are confirmed.
PSL has since notified the topflight clubs of the impending fixture interruptions.
“We would like to remind you that in addition to the Castle Lager Premiership, we will be commencing two major knockout cup competitions in August 2026 until the end of the season,” the PSL said in a circular to the clubs.
“In this regard, we would like to advise all clubs to prepare for possible irregular fixtures which may result in some clubs participating in consecutive away fixtures. This is due to the sporting merit rankings and seeding in some of these competitions.”
Meanwhile, the Midlands Derby between Kwekwe United and Hardrock in the round of 32 in the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup has been moved to Chahwanda Stadium.
The match was originally drawn to take place at Baghdad.
However, the authorities have advised that lower-division teams drawn at home but whose grounds do not meet the requirements of topflight football have to play at neutral venues that are homologated for Premiership matches.
Chahwanda will also host division one outfit Marere FC and former PSL champions FC Platinum in the Munhumupata round of 32 knock-outs.
Harare Province representatives Scottland Juniors will host giants CAPS United at Baobab while Blackrock host Highlanders at Colliery.
Aqua Stars and Chilli FC will play at Luveve.
