THE 18 Premier Soccer League board of governors will convene for an Extraordinary General Meeting in the capital today, to review the just ended season and also prepare for the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign.
Before they conduct the EGM, the governors will this morning attend a ceremony to unveil the 1 400ha piece of land that will house the PSL’s new headquarters in Borrowdale Estates.
The land was acquired with the help of Premier Soccer League chief executive officer, Kennedy Ndebele, revealed that the EGM will also deliberate on the amended ZIFA Constitution and its impact on the country’s top-flight football league.
Article 12 of the new constitution states that the men’s Premier Soccer League is now a member of ZIFA, plus its 18 clubs, meaning the top flight league will now have 19 voters in the next ZIFA elections.
“There were also changes to the ZIFA Statutes that affect the Premier Soccer League; for example, the league is now a member, making it 19 members from the top flight, so we need to deliberate on the logistics,” Ndebele told Zimpapers Sports Hub.
Added Ndebele: “This EGM will allow the board of governors to make provisional plans for the 2025 league campaign and also review the 2024 season.”
A draft budget for the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League will also be presented for consideration by the PSL club representatives.
Champions Simba Bhora, FC Platinum, Ngezi Platinum Stars, Manica Diamonds, Highlanders, Herentals, Dynamos, Chicken Inn, CAPS United, GreenFuel, TelOne, Yadah, ZPC Kariba, and Bikita Minerals will be represented.
Hwange, Chegutu Pirates, Arenel Movers, and Bulawayo Chiefs were relegated, but they will be represented at the EGM.
Scottland FC, Triangle United, Kwekwe United, and ZPC Hwange were promoted into the top flight league but will only be eligible to attend the Annual General Meeting, which will precede the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
