Public prosecutor arrested for extortion

A public prosecutor stationed at the Guruve Magistrates’ Court, was arrested on Monday on allegations of extortion.

Yolanda Alufasi’s arrest followed a sting operation by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc).

In a statement Zacc communications manager Simiso Mlevu said Alufasi allegedly demanded a bribe from Chiedza Mutunami in exchange for expediting the release of her husband, Innocent

Mutunami’s, docket from the police to her office.

“Innocent is currently in custody at Guruve Prisons for theft-related charges. A report was made to Zacc and Alufasi was arrested following a sting operation. She was found in possession of the trap money.

“The accused is expected to appear at Rotten Row Magistrate court today (Tuesday 28 January, 2025) for initial remand,” said Mlevu.
