THREE Bulawayo men who are accused of stabbing a man to death in Pumula over an undisclosed dispute have appeared in court.

Nkazimulo Sibanda (23) of Lower Rangemore, Jethro Dube (25) of Emthunzini, and Andile Ngwenya (22) of Emthunzini appeared on Thursday before Western Commonage Provincial Magistrate Mr Jeconia Prince Ncube facing murder charges.

They were advised to apply for a bail at the Bulawayo High Court if they so wish and to seek the services of a lawyer. The matter was postponed to 24 June for routine remand.

The court heard that the incident occurred on 25 April 2025 shortly before midnight.
The deceased, Chilumbo Stillo of Emthunzini suburb in Bulawayo, had spent the day socialising with his friends at a drinking spot in the Pumula East suburb.

The court heard that at around 11:45PM, he left for his home with a friend when a group of men emerged from the darkness.
“Fearing for their lives, Stillo and his friend ran away, but the gang gave chase and caught up with Stillo near the intersection, where they severely assaulted and stabbed him, leading to his death after he bled profusely,” the court heard.

In the early hours of 26 April, at around 2:30AM, a passing motorist discovered Stillo’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood at the intersection.

It was heard in court that Stillo had suffered stab wounds and there was a trail of blood at the scene. His body was taken to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) mortuary for a post-mortem.

The matter was reported to the police. Detectives from the Bulawayo Homicide Section activated their intelligence and carried out investigations leading to the arrest of the three suspects. Two other suspects, only known as Goodluck and another unidentified man, remain at large.

Police recovered an Itel mobile phone belonging to the deceased from the arrested suspects.
