Highlanders 1-0 Agama
A LATE strike from Royn Nyamono ensured that Highlanders walk away with maximum points against Agama in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League on Thursday afternoon.
Nyamono struck home in the 92nd minute, after the referee had added three minutes.
The midfielder scored a dipping shot from outside the box, on the right side, as Agama’s goalkeeper Wilson Brown struggled to deal with the effort.
It was Bosso’s fifth win of the season, moving to 25 points while Agama remain rooted on 12.
Highlanders would feel they truly deserved the win after wasting numerous chances throughout the match.
The Benjani Mwaruwari mentored side enjoyed most of the ball but missed a lot of chances.
In the first half, Bosso nearly had an early breakthrough when Royn Nyamondo sent in a brilliant cross into the box which Benjamin Adeogun failed to properly connect with, sending his effort wide for a goal kick.
In the 10th minute, Bosso came close again when Andrew Mbeba sent in yet another brilliant cross from the right flank which met an unmarked Mongameli Tshuma inside the box. The skillful attacker, however, had his shot saved by Wilson Brown in goals for Agama.
Moments later, a loose ball fell onto Rainsome Pavari’s path, just outside the box but the midfielder’s one-time effort went over the bar.
Agama had a golden chance to break the deadlock in the 16th minute through a defensive error between Lawrence Mhlanga and the goalkeeper, Aron Ngwenya.
Moments later, Siphephelo Philiso tested Ngwenya from a distance but the Bosso shot-stopper was equal to the task.
The hosts continued their search for the opener and a Mbeba free kick sent into the danger zone in the 21st minute met no takers.
In the 24th minute, Tshuma’s shot from inside the box went just wide off goal.
Agama wasted yet another chance when an unmarked Bernard Chipanera sent his effort over the bar from inside the box.
With just under 10 minutes left before the break, a brilliant interchange of play between Mbeba and Tshuma on the right flank saw the former sent a grass cutting cross which Pavari could not properly connect with.
Tshuma got yet another chance to fire Bosso into the lead after receiving a brilliant cross from Adeogun but his effort was saved by Brown.
Towards the hour mark, Bosso made two changes, the game’s first substitutions. Isaac Ngoma came in for Adeogun while Kuda Mahachi replaced Never Rauzhi.
Moments later, Royn Nyamono dribbled past the Agama defenders and was brought down just outside the arc. Mbeba stood up to take the free-kick but his effort went over the bar.
Two minutes after he was brought in, Ngoma had a thunderous shot from inside the box punched away to safety by Brown.
In the 71st minute, Ngoma hit the woodwork for Bosso.
With 10 minutes on the clock, Agama’s second half substitute Emmanuel Chambara, unmarked, shot way off target.
