THE family of a man from Pumula South in Bulawayo who allegedly hanged himself in his home is demanding answers over the incident insisting that someone was behind their son’s death.
No arrests have been made as yet concerning the death, the police said.
Themba Nyathi, 48, was found dead in a spare room with a loose rope around his neck and blood stains in the main bedroom with the name ‘STEVEN’ written on it.
Nyathi was buried on Friday at West Park Cemetery in an emotional ceremony at which his sister collapsed during the body-viewing and is still hospitalised with high blood pressure.
Nyathi’s mother, Regina, told Chronicle that the family was still not satisfied that their son could have hanged himself.
“The rope that was around his neck was not even tight such that it could have killed him,” she said.
“What about the wound? Where did it come from? We are still confused right now.
“One thing is clear though, my son did not commit suicide.”
Nyathi’s wife, Charity, who is a prosecutor at West Commonage Magistrate Court, could not be reached as she was said to be assisting the police with investigations at the Homicide department.
Police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo said no new developments had come up concerning the case.
“We have not established any new information concerning the case as yet.
“We are also appealing to the public to come forward and assist us if they have any information pertaining to Nyathi’s death,” Insp Moyo said.
