A 17-YEAR-OLD boy from Famona suburb in Bulawayo has been arrested for having sex with a 14-year-old girl.
The boy, a Form Three pupil at Milton High School, allegedly met the girl from Cowdray Park suburb sometime in March last year and proposed love to her.
The teens, who cannot be named for ethical reasons, started having sex until the girl, a Form Three pupil at St Columbus High School, told her friend who later told the girl’s mother.
The boy appeared before magistrate Tinashe Tashaya facing a charge of having sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16. The boy pleaded guilty.
“I admit that I had sex with her. She’s my girlfriend and I wasn’t aware of her age,” said the boy.
Prosecuting, Nkathazo Dlodlo told the court that on an unknown date but during the month of March last year, the complainant had unprotected sex with her boyfriend.
“Later in the same year, the teens had sex again twice in the city centre. The complainant was referred to a hospital and a medical report can be produced in court as an exhibit,” he said.
The case continues on Monday.
