A LEADING player in Zimbabwe’s renewable energy space, Purleigh Investments, reaffirmed its status as a national powerhouse after scooping four top accolades at the 4th edition of the Solar Week Zimbabwe Awards in Harare on Friday.
The awards, which recognise visionaries driving the nation’s transition to clean and reliable power, honour leadership, innovation and groundbreaking projects that are lighting Zimbabwe’s path to a sustainable and secure energy future.
The company, led by its managing director Ms Susan Mawonawani, emerged one of the biggest winners at the event, taking home four awards out of more than 20 categories.
In the Women in Energy segment, the company clinched the Best Energy System of the Year, the Best Solar Energy Storage Solution of the Year, Best Solar Project Engineerig of the Year, and the prestigious Best Solar Company of the Year awards.
The sweep of accolades firmly positions the company as a market leader in Zimbabwe’s fast-growing renewable energy landscape.
In an interview after the awards ceremony, Ms Mawonawani said the recognition reflected the company’s dedication to innovation and excellence.
“I am excited and it’s such a wonderful day for us. Getting all these awards is a testament to the impact and good work we are doing as an organisation.
“Our vision is to revolutionise the energy sector and make solar the preferred source of energy in Zimbabwe,” she said.
Ms Mawonawani said Purleigh Investments is focused on providing sustainable, reliable solutions that promote energy independence across productive sectors.
She said battery energy storage systems were proving transformative and enabling 24-hour solar-powered operations in the country.
And one award-winning project her firm implemented in Headlands, Mashonaland East Province, had achieved round-the-clock farm operations, resulting in improved yields and earning their client a best farmer accolade.
She said her company continually adopts advanced technologies, integrating multiple systems—from borehole and pump operations to pivots and net-metering—to deliver efficient energy management.
“At Purleigh we continously improve, scan for new technologies and work closely with Tier 1 manufacturers to ensure our customers receive reliable and cost-effective solutions,” she said.
