THE leader of a gospel group, Purple Pride Family, has launched a clothing line that he says will help gospel ministers look presentable on stage.
Albertt Mtengwa, who fronts the gospel group, says, gospel ministers have not embraced the power of fashion on stage.
“As a gospel minister, I realised that sometimes, as ministers, we tend to overlook our presentation and yet it is something that matters the most when we are on stage.
“So, I have decided to come up with a clothing line which will be under the brand A.M Albertt Mtengwa.
“We are the light and we have every reason to look good and be ambassadors of the Kingdom.
“There is a certain perception by the youths that for you to be a minister of the word, or to be a Christian/believer, you are restricted to a boring way of dressing but it’s not true at all.
“Being a son of God means you are to be sharp and you should look amazing and be the one who sets the tone for the world,” he said.
Mtengwa added:
“So, this shall also change the perception of young people vaya vanoti boys rekuchurch ndere ma low low on dressing.
“Also, yes, to my fellow ministers, it is a challenge that whenever we go on stage or walk in public, we need to look and dress well because the Kingdom we are coming from is all about everything which is good.
“So, since we getting into winter, we will be rolling out winter collection, that’s winter 3D designed coats.
“We will be also be rolling out tailor-made outfits, which will suit a minister’s taste of fashion and also outfits which communicates a minister’s lifestyle in terms of what he loves.
“This will see the fans and public being given ideas of looking good, through their favourite ministers, and musicians.”
He said, he will be working with Chenah Wear, which has been in existence for the past 10 years.
“I will be working with Chenah Wear, which has been dressing musicians and other notable public figures like Jonah Chivasa, Macdonald Macdee Chidavaenzi, Denise Moyo (America-based Zim singer), Purple Pride Family, Leonard Zhakata.
“For Chenah Wear, I am co-founder with my brother Simba Ray, who is also a notable gospel musician and one of the best vocal coaches and arrangers in the country.”
