GOSPEL outfit Purple Pride Family has rebranded to Purple Pride Vocal Fusion.

The number of band members has been reduced from 40 to 18.

The group, led by Albert Mtengwa, will now have five tenors, seven sopranos and six altos.

The group has dropped an EP titled ‘Transformation,’ which has five songs.

“Starting from October, we will be releasing them and these will be an indication of our new sound and approach as an entity.

“The new name is now Purple Pride Vocal Fusion and this is a new chapter in musical excellence and ministry.

“After 12 transformative years of uplifting worship and community engagement, the Purple Pride Choir is thrilled to announce its rebranding as Purple Pride Vocal Fusion.

“This strategic shift marks a new phase in the choir’s journey, focusing on a smaller, more refined group of talented members.

“This change is aimed at nurturing their development as solo artists while embracing a modern, innovative approach to music ministry,” he said.

Mtengwa added:

“The new name captures the essence of blending individual talents into a cohesive, dynamic performance ensemble.

“By focusing on a select group of singers, the rebranding allows for a more personalised and intensive approach to artistic development, emphasising on individual strengths and fostering growth as solo performers.

“The choir will now consist of a smaller, elite group of vocalists, each receiving dedicated mentorship to enhance their skills and showcase their unique voices.

“This transformation aims to cultivate standout solo talents who can bring fresh, powerful expressions of faith through music, resonating deeply with audiences and expanding the choir’s impact.”

The group is now aiming to blend with modern music trends.

“Purple Pride Vocal Fusion is committed to adopting a new-age sound that integrates contemporary Christian, pop and soulful influences.

“This modernised musical approach is designed to engage a diverse audience, including younger generations, through relevant and relatable expressions of faith.

“The smaller ensemble allows for greater flexibility and creativity in musical arrangements, ensuring that the choir’s performances are both innovative and spiritually enriching.

“With a focus on developing solo artists, we aim to extend our reach and influence.

“The choir will leverage this new format to connect with audiences on a deeper level, using music as a powerful vehicle for the ministry.”
