PWDs hail inclusion in projects

Herald Reporter
People living with disabilities have hailed Government for ensuring they are included and catered for in development programmes.

Chairman of the National Disability Dialogue Mr Gift Mabhaudhi said Government had extended the role of people living with disabilities in the quest to develop the nation.

“Government has appointed a director responsible for disability. The post had been vacant for a while leaving the disabled community without a public officer responsible and accountable for their welfare and inclusion in national programmes.

“While there is a lot of debate on the candidate for the position, it is important to note that filling the position is a major step although we prefer that the office be held by someone who is aptly qualified and has a physical challenge in order to understand the plight of persons living with disabilities.
