FOUR women who were offering sexual services at a beauty parlour in Harare were fined US$30 each after pleading guilty to the offence.
Charity Makoni, also known as Chelsea (30), 22 year-old Josephine Tapi (Tanya), Mirriam Bimha (Chichie) aged 25, and Shyline Sibanda aka Sky (24), appeared before Harare Magistrate Ms Ruth Moyo yesterday.
The court heard that the quartet was offering massage and sexual services to male clients.
Magistrate Moyo also imposed a two-month wholly-suspended sentence on the condition that the accused do not commit a similar offence within the next five years.
Defence lawyer, Mrs Concillia Maheya, argued in mitigation that the accused were first-time offenders who were breadwinners for their families.
The women initially appeared in court on Saturday, but their charges were separated from those of their employer, Cassandra Mavhura.
Mavhura faces multiple charges, including soliciting for the purpose of prostitution, living off or facilitating prostitution, procuring for the purpose of prostitution, and contravening the Shop Licences Act. She was subsequently fined for all counts.
Prosecutor Ms Nomsa Kangara told the court that on May 9, around noon, a team from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Licence Inspectorate, comprising Constables Muri, Somerai, Kazenga, and Khumalo, acted on a tip-off about illegal activities at a beauty parlour located at 30 Helm Avenue, Harare.
The tip-off alleged that the parlour not only offered massages but also sexual services, including sex and oral sex, at a cost of US$20 per session.
