INFORMATION, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere and Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Minister Monica Mutsvangwa have met the Mayor of Minsk, the capital of Belarus, to discuss various areas of co-operation.
They focused on media co-operation, including the modernisation of studios, digitalisation and content sharing, and the exchange of expertise.
The Ministers also toured an integrated media group in Minsk to observe how Belarus has integrated its media outlets, which aligns with efforts to modernise the sector.
Zimbabwe Newspapers (1980) Limited, which publishes The Herald and Chronicle, is undergoing a significant digital transformation.
This transformation includes transitioning from a print-first to a digital-first model and building a strong digital presence to cater to the growing digital media consumption.
These initiatives are crucial for exploring ways to monetise digital content.
Under Minister Mutsvangwa’s portfolio, discussions covered small to medium enterprises, youth and women empowerment, value addition, light industry, macroeconomic growth, and agriculture.
President Mnangagwa is visiting Belarus on a reciprocal trip to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, aiming to strengthen ties and find new co-operation opportunities.
Zimbabwe and Belarus maintain a solid relationship, co-operating in areas like agriculture and transport, in line with President Mnangagwa’s policy that promotes friendship and collaboration with all nations.
