Barely a week after being crowned on Zimbabwe’s most prestigious pageantry stage, national queens from Miss Universe Zimbabwe have hit the ground running, making their first official public appearance at a high-profile diplomatic welcome event for the First Lady of Equatorial Guinea at the Baradzanwa Cultural Village in Mazowe, Mashonaland Central province this past weekend.

First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa hosted a warm and colourful reception for her counterpart, Mrs Constancia Mangue Obiang, at the village where song, dance and ululation created a vibrant display of Zimbabwean heritage, identity and African unity.

The queens – Roseanna Hall, Jemima Mandemwa, Virginia Nyambe, Ruvimbo Njomboro, Nicole Nyawera and Brunette Makanyiso were invited by the First Lady to join Honourable Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Barbara Rwodzi in welcoming the visiting delegation. They stood alongside women dressed in Zimbabwe’s national attire, representatives from faith-based organisations and members of traditional leadership families.
“It was truly an honour to be invited by our dearest Amai, First Lady of Zimbabwe Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, to such an inspiring event,” said Jemima Mandemwa, the reigning Top Model of the World Zimbabwe 2026.

Dressed in Zimbabwe’s national fabric, the queens actively participated in the proceedings, helping to extend a warm cultural welcome to the First Lady of Equatorial Guinea.

The day-long programme offered a rich immersion into Zimbabwean culture, featuring indigenous cuisine, traditional crafts and mentorship sessions aimed at empowering young girls. The exchanges between the two nations also highlighted cultural heritage as both an identity marker and a tool for development.

The visiting delegation expressed admiration for Zimbabwe’s Nhanga/Gota/Ixhiba initiative, describing it as an inspiring model for mentoring young people, empowering women and preserving African traditions.

Guests were also treated to a showcase of Zimbabwean gastronomy.
