GIRLS’ College in Bulawayo has congratulated one of its former students, acclaimed Zimbabwean author Sue Nyathi, whose novel The Polygamist has been adapted into a Netflix series that is trending globally.
In a message shared on its official Facebook page, the school said it was proud of the achievements of its former student, whose literary works have earned recognition both locally and internationally.
“Celebrating Our Alumni! The College is proud of its Old Girl, Sue Nyathi whose novel, The Polygamist, has been adapted to a Netflix Series of the same title. The Polygamist Series is currently trending globally,” the school said.
“Congratulations Sue, We at Girls’ College are proud of your achievements,” the school said.
Girls’ College said Nyathi’s success was a source of pride for the institution and the wider community.
The school also highlighted Nyathi’s body of work, which includes the novels A Family Affair, The Polygamist, The Gold Diggers, When Secrets Become Stories and An Angel’s Demise.
Nyathi is one of Zimbabwe’s most recognised contemporary authors. Her works often explore themes of family, relationships, identity and social issues affecting modern African societies.
The adaptation of The Polygamist for Netflix marks another milestone in her writing career and shines a spotlight on Zimbabwean storytelling on the global stage.
