The Bulawayo outfit, owned by Tawanda Ruzive, was ordered to pay the fine before the end of this month.
In a letter to the club’s secretary, PSL noted that Quelaton fielded Zibusiso Sibanda who had been expelled in a league match against Shabanie Mine on 6 April.
“In terms of the Premier Soccer League Rules and Regulations Order 33.2 and 33.3; Any player given a red card shall immediately leave the pitch, or the bench and in addition shall be suspended automatically for two official consecutive matches.
“For avoidance of doubt, any friendly or charity match shall not be treated as official match,” noted the PSL.
The letter further states that in terms of Order 36.1.4; use of an unregistered/ineligible player in a league match results in three points being deducted and thrown away.
The offending team shall in addition pay a fine pegged by the Management Committee.
“Please be advised that your club has been docked three points and fined a sum of $5 000.
Kindly ensure that the above sum is paid not later than 31 May 2012.”
With the three points deducted Quelaton are now second from the bottom with just three points despite winning two games from as many weeks. Meanwhile, Caps United are likely going to be ordered to play their next league match against Quelaton in an empty stadium when they come before the disciplinary committee tomorrow over the behaviour of their fans that led to the abandonment of their league match against Chicken Inn earlier in the season.
The Bulawayo side were leading 2-0 deep into injury time when violence erupted from the stands, forcing the referee to call off the match.
A source in the PSL management committee said the match, according to the standing rules and regulations, will be given to Chicken Inn on a 3-0 scoreline while a suspended sentence for Caps United from last year’s case involving Gunners will come into effect.
Caps United director Twine Phiri is the PSL management committee president.
Last year, Gunners were given the match on a 3-0 scoreline after Caps United supporters went riotous leading to the abandonment of the match after 68 minutes with Gunners leading 2-1.
