Mother Africa Circus is an ensemble of African performing artistes that are chosen to tour different parts of the world showcasing the vast African talent abroad.
Mkhwananzi and her compatriot Silethemba Magonya were part of 37 other African performers from Cote d’Ivoire, South Africa, Ethiopia and Guinea.
In an interview on Monday, Mkhwananzi said the tour was great as she learnt a lot and would use her experiences to grow more as a performing artiste.
“I learnt a lot by sharing ideas with other performing artistes that were there. I have been with Mother Africa for the past six years and the experience has been great,” said Mkhwananzi.
She said singing was her passion and performing with a band was the highlight of the tour.
“When I am in front of an audience and singing it is the greatest feeling. I have learnt how to sing with a band which is something I really want to do,” said Mkhwananzi.
She said by year end she would release an album that would wow music lovers.
“If all goes well I will release an album by year end and music lovers should expect the best. My future plans are to have a band of my own,” said Mkhwananzi who, however, could not be drawn into revealing more about the album.
She said the album would be recorded in the country and also in neighbouring South Africa.
“I will be resting and catching up with friends in the meantime,” said Mkhwananzi.
Mother Africa, which was changed from Mama Africa in 2006, is a show that brings together more than 40 artistes from Africa.
Each artiste is a dancer as well as a singer or a musician, or all. Although the artistes come from different parts of Africa they are one big family, bringing all the joy and passion of their different cultures on stage and straight to the audience.
