Quest to produce new vehicles

Car assembler, Quest Motor Corporation says it plans to produce new vehicle models this year, a move expected to create an additional 100 new jobs at its Mutare assembling plant.

Quest currently holds the franchise for brands including BMW, Chery, Foton, JMC, Mitsubishi, Peugeot vehicles and Zhongtong Buses. But currently it is only assembling the Chery, JMC and Foton brands.

Quest director Tarik Adam said new projects to come on stream this year included assembling a new model of the Chery brand. “This year we will start producing another Chery model, the Chery QQ,” he said.

He said the company would soon start receiving Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits for 65-seater Zhongtong buses for assembling.

Mr Adam said more CKD kits of the Foton brand would also be brought into the country. “A further 100 people will be employed in the next few months to get these projects going.”

The car assembling company introduced Chinese vehicle models, namely Chery, Foton and JMC into the Zimbabwean market a few years ago. – New Ziana.
