R10m SA cash bust

A 38-YEAR-OLD Mzansi man was arrested at the Cape Town International Airport on Wednesday afternoon.

This after he was found with two suitcases filled with cash estimated to be R10 million.

The suspect was allegedly from Pietermaritzburg enroute to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) via Cape Town.

The Hawksa�� Serious Commercial Crime Unit was called to the scene for further investigations.

a�?Obviously our probe in this will be to determine the trail and origin of the money. We cannot rule out unearthing illicit activities as we go along,a�? Acting Provincial Head of the Hawks, Brigadier Neil Oliver said.

He is expected to appear in the Bellville Magistratesa�� Court on Thursday, facing charges of contravening Sec (15) of the Customs and Excise Act 91/1994 (failure to declare). a�� Daily Sun .
