THE goal scored by Simba Bhora in their one all draw against Dynamos has been awarded to striker Tymon Machope who is now the joint leading scorer with CAPS United forward William Manondo.
The two players are now tied on 10 goals and Machope becomes the second player to reach double figures this season. Initially, the goal had been thought to have been scored by Webster Tafa but video evidence showed otherwise.
In the 33th minute of the game, Machope rose high to head the ball towards the target, and it hit a post and went in by a few of inches before it was scooped back into play by Dynamos goalkeeper Martin Mapisa into the path of Tafa who shot home from close range and went off celebrating with the rest of his Simba Bhora teammates.
The PSL has however, confirmed that the goal was credited to Machope. Other captured videos of the goal also confirm the development. Week 23 produced 15 goals taking the total number of goals scored so far to 359 this year. It remains to be seen if any of the strikers will surpass the 20-goal mark, a feat that has not been achieved by any Zimbabwean player in over a decade. The late Norman Maroto was the last to achieve that when he banged 22 goals for Gunners in 2010.
