The man, who has two children at the school, told the Daily News he approached the SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).
Craig Thiem said his children had repeatedly complained to him about a white teacher with a racist attitude towards black pupils.
“He has a poster on the class wall that depicts blacks as having monkey-like primitive brains who can only make confusing noises. This particular teacher also often refers to blacks as ‘kaffirs’ in class,” said Thiem.
The father said the teacher would often put a mirror in front of a black child and ask them what they saw. When the child would say “I don’t know, sir” the teacher would respond with: “A baboon . . . you see a baboon!”
The SAHRC’s spokesperson Isaac Mangena would work with the basic education department on the matter.
“After opening the file, we will be speaking to the respondents; the school, the principal and the teachers.” — News24.
