Police pounce on foreign national selling skin lighteners, booty creams and anti-wrinkle potions

A SO-CALLED beauty spa in Harare has been exposed as a front for illegal drug sales, with detectives uncovering a stash of unregistered creams, pills, and injectables during a dramatic raid!
National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest of a foreign national on 8 April 2025, following a sting operation led by CID Drugs and Narcotics.
The suspect had been operating without a licence, running shady cosmetic services and selling unapproved medicines at three different premises in Harare:
• 46 Van Praagh Avenue, Milton Park
• 48 Harare Drive
• 157 Josiah Chinamano Avenue
But it was the Josiah Chinamano “beauty spa” that shocked detectives the most.
Inside, they discovered a treasure trove of banned body-altering products including:
• Skin lightening creams
• Breast and butt enlargement creams
• Anti-wrinkle serums
• Laser hair removal treatments done by unqualified personnel
The estimated value of the illegal stash? A staggering ZWG 450 000!
“The spa was operating without a licence and offering services that require certified professionals,” said Comm Nyathi.
Among the seized products were:
Sadoer Breast Enlargement Cream, Sadoer Slimming Cream, Ampoule Serum Fresh Anti-Oxidant, Sadoer Kojic Acid, and Sadoer Anti-Wrinkle Soothing — all unregistered and potentially dangerous.
The police warned the public to avoid backyard beauty clinics offering “quick fixes” and to report suspicious drug sales via the National Complaints Desk on (0242) 703631 or WhatsApp 0712 800 197.
