“You cannot control nature. The bad weather meant that we share points. What we wanted was to play and beat them because the guys were raring to go. We also wanted to give our fringe players some game time but due to weather, the game was rained off,” said Staddon.
Tuskers lost the first leg of the Twenty20 that was played in Masvingo by four wickets and were looking at overturning that result.
The Bulawayo cricket team had on Saturday beaten Southern Rocks by five wickets in a Pro-50 One-Day match with top order batsman Brian Chari top scoring for Tuskers with 54 runs.
Southern Rocks had batted first and were bowled out for 131 runs in 36 overs. Tuskers made 136 runs in 27,4 overs to surpass Rocks’ target.
Staddon said they have turned focus on their next matches against Mashonaland Eagles on Wednesday and Thursday. Tuskers play host to the visiting Harare club.
The two teams will play the Pro-50 One-Day game on Wednesday before battling it out in the Twenty20 competition on Thursday.
“Our aim is to win the Pro-50 game against Eagles and put ourselves in a better position to play in the final. Like I said, we want to win the Pro-50 One-Day trophy as well as the Castle Logan Cup and we are on course to do that,” said Staddon.
He said he hoped his bowlers will continue with their good form..
On Saturday, Sean Ervine picked up three wickets while pace bowling duo of Glenn Querl and Keegan Meth, off spinner Gavin Ewing had two wickets each with Keith Dabengwa getting one.
