ZANU-PF Deputy National Secretary for Women Affairs Cde Eunice Sandi-Moyo yesterday said party members should rally behind all female candidates in the party to ensure they win resoundingly in the forthcoming elections in Bulawayo. Addressing a party rally at Njube Shopping Centre, Cde Sandi-Moyo said it was every member’s duty to empower female candidates by voting them into power.
“We have about 16 out of 29 female candidates aspiring to be councillors in Bulawayo. Let us support them and ensure they win in the forthcoming elections on 31 July. Women are also capable of working with men and bringing development in the country,” said Cde Sandi-Moyo.
She said party members were supposed to go in their numbers to vote and not leave behind any eligible voters.
“Let us preach the gospel of Zanu-PF, fill it in all houses and ensure that on the day of the elections we go with people to vote for the party.
“Members should also be aware that by going to vote they are not only doing it for the candidates but to protect the gains of our hard won independence,” said Cde Sandi-Moyo.
She urged the party’s candidates to work for the people if voted into power.
“Being voted into power does not mean that leaders must forget the people who chose them and it is not a personal job. Elected leaders should ensure they solve people‘s problems and consult them on issues affecting them because not doing so will turn people against them.
“We do not want greedy leaders who will demonstrate for allowances when chosen into power instead of working for the people as they pledged to do when they wanted to be voted into office,” said Cde Sandi-Moyo.
She said it was time for Zanu-PF to lead Zimbabwe on its own as the Inclusive Government had proved to be a disaster.
“MDC has been divided into so many formations within a short period of time while Zanu-PF has stood firm and united even in trying times for years. Let us vote for the chosen party that has clear policies and will offer you development which is Zanu-PF, it is time for red things to go,” said Cde Sandi-Moyo, referring to the MDC-T colours.
