GERMANY-BASED rap sensation, Awa Khiwe, performed with her female group GRRRL, for the first time in four years, in Manchester.
Awa Khiwe is part of an all-female group with artists from Bangladesh, Brazil, Ghana, Venezuela, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
All artists have their solo music careers.
“I am a member of GRRRL, a fierce all-female band with members from different parts of the world — Bangladesh, Brazil, Ghana, Venezuela, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
“The band has performed on big stages around the world. We all have solo music careers but we come together once in a while and tour together.”
Awa Khiwe said the group has made a huge impact in her musical career.
“I love being a member of this band, I have grown so much as an artist and as a woman through GRRRL experiences. It is so inspirational and powerful to share the stage and beautiful memories with these fierce Queens. If you have ever seen us on stage then I am sure you understand.
“We had three gigs in Manchester this past weekend and I was so emotional the whole time. We haven’t performed together for four years,” she said.
