A TEENAGER from Luveve suburb who was on remand on $100 bail for allegedly raping a girl, was yesterday back at the Western Commonage magistrate’s courts facing a fresh charge of rape.

Welcome Sibanda, 18, raped his latest victim, a 20-year-old mentally challenged woman from the same suburb, at a park near their neighbourhood.

He allegedly dragged her from her family house to the park where he raped her once. Sibanda appeared before Sibongile magistrate Msipa-Marondedze charged with rape. He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to August 3, coincidentally the date his first rape case is scheduled to start. Prosecuting, Maria John said sometime last month, Sibanda went to the woman’s place of residence and dragged her to Luveve Park.

He then raped her once before releasing her.

The matter came to light, the court heard, after Sibanda went for a “second attack” at the victim’s place of residence on July 13.

“Sibanda found the woman alone and held her by the waist and she resisted forcing him to leave the house,” said the prosecutor. The court heard that Sibanda was seen leaving the house by a tenant at the same house. John said the tenant went inside the house to check on the victim and found her seated on the sofa crying.

“Upon being questioned why she was crying, the woman revealed how Sibanda came into the house and caressed her by the waist,” said John.

She also revealed that sometime in June, Sibanda came to the house and dragged her to Luveve Park where he raped her once.
