his trial started before Chitungwiza regional magistrate Ms Gladys Pise.
However, he was convicted because of overwhelming evidence.
Ms Pise sentenced Chirenje to 16 years in prison but set aside five years for the next five years.
The court heard that Chirenje took advantage of the fact that the girl used to go to school alone. Prosecutor Ms Joice Fusire proved that between February and March 2010, Chirenje would meet the girl on her way to and from school along a footpath in Twaglens, Beatrice. He would rape the minor in the bush on several occasions.
