Children’s Hospital.
The operations started on Monday and are expected to end tomorrow.
Forty-eight children were successfully operated since Monday and another 31 were expected to be operated on by end of day yesterday. The matron at the Children’s Hospital who could not be named for professional reasons, said lack of facilities in clinics was contributing to huge backlog.
“Hernia is not a major disease and should be treated even at rural hospitals. Due to lack of facilities we end up having people coming from far areas,” she said.
The oldest to be operated is 15 years while the youngest is two weeks old.
