RAYLTON Recreation Club will play host to the Mega Menthol Pool Single Open tournament this weekend.
The Bulawayo Pool Association (BPA) League took a mid-season break from 24 June to 6 July to create room for the Fodya Private Limited sponsored pool tournament.
Ralyton are hosting the first of the three Mega Menthol tournaments scheduled in the next three months.
The Mega Menthol Single Open tournament to be played this weekend is open to every one.
Fodya (PVT) struck a deal worth $5 280 with BPA to sponsor three pool tournaments with each sponsored for $1 760 with $1 200 for prizes given to players and $560 to the association.
Clubs will bid to host the next two Mega Menthol open tournaments which will be held on 27 July and 31 August respectively.
BPA publicity secretary Donald Wadawu confirmed that the tourney will be staged at Ralyton Club.
“Ralyton will host the official launch of Mega Menthol one day open tournament, with other clubs to bid to host the following tournaments.
“The tournament is open for every one with passion for pool including registered and non-registered players,” Wadawu said.
Wadawu disclosed the prize money break down.
Women will be allowed to challenge in the men’s category.
“There are a few prizes for ladies because there will be few participants compared to men and they are allowed to challenge in the men’s category as some of them are good,” said Wadawu.
Pool players from other provinces are welcome to participate.
In the men’s category, the first prize will be $250, second $170, with third $120, while fourth will pocket $100, five to eight will be given $50 each and nine to 16 pocketing $20 each.
In the women’s category the winner will get $100, second $50 with third getting $30 while fourth $20.
