CHEVRONS T20 skipper Sikandar Raza has progressed from smashing boundaries on the pitch to making diplomatic moves!
While in the United States for the third edition of Major League Cricket (MLC), Raza met with US Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Pamela Tremont, and surprised her with one of his official Test jerseys.
Raza is playing for the Seattle Orcas, and though the team is still chasing their first win after three outings, the Zimbabwean star is already winning hearts off the field.
“Zimbabwe Cricket Captain Sikandar Raza is taking his world-class skills to America’s Major League Cricket. He joins the Seattle Orcas team for Season Three,” read a post from the US Embassy in Zimbabwe.
The post continued: “Raza recently presented Ambassador Tremont with one of his official team jerseys, symbolising the strong ties between Zimbabwe and the US through sport. The United States is proud to be the global hub for professional sports, where the best compete and dreams become reality. Welcome Raza to the US.”
The meeting between bat and diplomacy left fans online applauding the mutual respect.
Raza now hopes to transfer some of that winning energy to the field as his Orcas look to bounce back in the coming fixtures.
