Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza has secured a move to MI London, joining the English franchise as a temporary overseas replacement for Afghanistan spin wizard Rashid Khan.
The signing comes after Rashid departed to join Afghanistan for their white-ball series against Ireland, with MI London turning to the experienced Zimbabwean to bolster their squad for the remainder of his availability.
Confirming the move on its official X account, MI London posted: “Sikandar Raza will temporarily replace Rashid Khan as an overseas player for MI London.
“Rashid Khan has joined up with Afghanistan for their white-ball series in Ireland. Welcome to the squad, Sikandar.”
Raza arrives at MI London after representing Zimbabwe in recent white-ball series against Bangladesh and India, continuing a busy international schedule that has underlined his status as one of the country’s most dependable performers.
The all-rounder also heads into the new challenge on the back of a productive spell with Worcestershire in the Vitality Blast, where he impressed with both bat and ball. In nine matches, he scored 258 runs at an average of 36.85 while claiming nine wickets at an economy rate of 6.54.
The MI London stint marks Raza’s second spell in English cricket this summer and provides another opportunity for the 39-year-old to showcase his experience in one of the world’s most competitive domestic T20 environments.
Raza’s arrival is expected to strengthen MI London’s middle order while adding a proven spin-bowling option as the franchise pursues success in the competition.
