Lahore Qalandars’ star cricketer Sikandar Raza is enjoying his latest outing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025) but has felt that Pakistan’s premier T20 tournament still falls a bit short to the Indian Premier League (IPL) in some departments.
The PSL 2025 has implemented a few groundbreaking technologies this season to keep track of all the action on the field. However, one thing that the organisers have not gotten right, which Sikandar Raza pointed out, is monitoring no-balls, specifically waist-high deliveries.
The Pakistan-born Zimbabwean has praised the technological advancements implemented in the Indian Premier League (IPL), particularly the use of digital tracking to monitor no-balls, and expressed hope that similar innovations will be introduced in PSL soon.
Raza explained that in the IPL, every player’s height is precisely measured, allowing technology to track the trajectory of deliveries, especially full tosses, digitally. This data is then compared against the bowler’s actual height to accurately determine whether a delivery qualifies as a no-ball. Such precision reduces human error and enhances the fairness of the game.
“There have been a lot of innovations in cricket lately,” Raza said. “Hopefully, we’ll see these technologies adopted in the next PSL as well.”
