CAPS United “legend” and Zambia Under-17 coach Ian Bakala is expected in the country today for an appointment in Makepekepe’s technical department as part of the exercise to find solutions to the challenges besetting the club.
Bakala is a former star midfielder at Makepekepe.
It is not yet clear if Bakala will become the head coach of CAPS United or will be an assistant to Lloyd Chitembwe.
Chitembwe has been given two games while the club searches for solutions, including the possible appointment of a new technical staff.
This followed Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at home to Bikita Minerals at Rufaro, a result that left them on four points from seven matches and tied with bottom-placed Triangle.
Initially, Chitembwe had offered to step down but there are those within the leadership who believe that he is a victim of dirty games at the club.
As part of the cleansing process, Shakespeare Chinogwenya, the veteran CAPS United team manager, was fired from his post yesterday as part of the restructuring of the club’s technical staff.
Club president Farai Jere announced the move yesterday and said Chonogwenya will be reassigned to work elsewhere where he will not be involved in football matters.
There has been reports of conflict within the club’s technical staff amid a poor run by the Green Machine.
Chinogwenya’s departure suggests Chitembwe might stay in charge of the team while Bakala comes in to bolster his backroom team.
