Rea Vaya, the log leaders, enjoyed a thrilling weekend with a 3-0 victory over Fmsa Vho Makhadzi at Fairbridge Primary, extending their lead to seven points.
Fmsa created scoring opportunities in the first half but struggled to finish, allowing Rea Vaya to take the lead through Shantel Siziba’s goal. Dineo Njaya’s goal, courtesy of Fmsa’s goalkeeping error, doubled the advantage and Siziba sealed the win with her second goal.
With only two games remaining, Rea Vaya has effectively clinched the championship and promotion to the Southern Region League Division One, although the official title will be decided on the final matchday.
In other matches, Bulawayo Galaxy’s clash with Queen Lozikeyi was postponed.
Streetset FC secured an impressive away win against Dube Strikers, who have shown significant improvement since the second leg commenced. The match ended 0-1 in favour of Streetset FC, with the winning goal scored in the second half.
Dube Strikers’ director, Rumbidzai Matambanadzo, expressed satisfaction with her team’s progress. “I’m delighted with our second-leg performance. The girls have demonstrated commitment and improvement. If we maintain this momentum, we’ll certainly secure a top-four spot.”
The focus now shifts to the battle for the top four, with teams vying for dominance.
