Reality television shows are proving to be a fertile ground for romance.Since its inception, Big Brother Africa has produced couples and this year’s edition dubbed The Chase is no exception as Pokello and Elikem are head over in heels in love with each other.

The speed at which they are advancing their relationship will even make the world’s fastest man Usain Bolt green with envy.
Locally, reality show My Own Boss has produced its first couple – last year’s winner Godwin Gogwe and runner-up Odert Kasimoni.
The two are already married and Odert is expecting.
For the first time, Godwin admitted that they are indeed an item with Odert as he has in the past denied dating his business partner insisting they were just good friends.

“Just Good Friends”
Speaking at the launch of this year’s edition, Godwin said he was grateful to My Own Boss because he has found a wife.
“My Own Boss gave me fame and fortune, but above all it gave me a life partner in the form of Odert,” he said.
Last year, the rumour mill had it that the two were indeed seeing each other, but the couple poured cold water on the allegations claiming they were just “good friends”.
Godwin refused to shed more light on their relationship saying: “I want to rush my woman home”.
Last year the couple sent tongues wagging among other participants when they decided to register a company together.
The move was seen by other participants as a way to show that the two had plans together after the competition.
While at the time they said it was purely a business decision, it became apparent that the two had soft spot for each other when Godwin dedicated the US$25 000 to Odert on the night he was crowned the winner.
He also announced that he would invest the money in a company – Connect Link Agency – registered in the couple’s names
Who knows, maybe he used the remainder to pay lobola for his new-found love.
A former participant, who cannot be named said the two decided to keep their relationship under wraps.
“Everyone in the house suspected that there was something going on between the two. Their closeness and even the eye contact showed that there was some chemistry between them but they kept on refuting the claims.
“It became even more apparent when Odert lost her mother, Godwin provided a shoulder for her to cry on.”
According to the My Own Boss producers, the show seeks to create opportunities and mould entrepreneurs not only for the corporate world but also emphasises on diversity of entrepreneurial avenues.
My Own Boss was launched in 2007 in a bid to promote youth entrepreneurship by engaging in a multimedia experiential learning and mentorship process.
The programme started as a television business reality show that focused on mentoring young entrepreneurs and providing exciting business lessons for television audiences across all ages and background in Zimbabwe.
This year the reality show is in its fifth season. Will we see another couple? Watch this space.
