An Epworth man is in the habit of attacking his mother with bricks to chase her away every month-end so that he can collect rentals from her tenants, the Harare Civil Court heard yesterday. Maria Simoko said her son, Tendai (30), was terrorising her and his other siblings and was selling off her matrimonial property.
Simoko was seeking a protection order against Tendai whom she said was breaching her peace and making her life horrible.
“I am now scared of visiting my house to collect my rentals and to see my other children because he is in the habit of attacking me with bricks,” she said.
“I want him to stop abusing my other children because he has no right to chase another child out of that house because it belongs to me and my husband,” Simoko said.
She said Tendai was collecting rentals from tenants by force, threatening to evict them if they refuse to abide by his demands.
Tendai denied the allegations and accused his mother of fabricating the case, but did not oppose the application. Magistrate Mr Muvhami granted the order in Simoko’s favour.
He ordered Tendai not to verbally or physically abuse his mother and to stop collecting rentals from her tenants.
“I do not know what she is talking about because I have never done anything like what she is accusing me of doing,” he said.
