“It is still the first weekend and I honestly did not expect the numbers we have, I may not be able to give you a figure on the attendance but I can tell you it is above HSC’s weekly average,” he said.
There weren’t a lot of surprises on Saturday as top clubs managed to finish the day victorious.
However, HSC’s second string side, the Red Lions, who are part of the National Rugby League, approached the tournament with complacency and lost to a spirited
Barbarians.
Red Lions benched most of their regular players leaving their forwards struggling for co-ordination and their back liners failing to find the team’s trademark rhythm.
