Red Fox Zimbabwe, a leading reggae/dancehall promotion company, has introduced “beach parties” beginning this Saturday at Spillway Restaurant Lakeside resort. Although in Harare there are no natural beaches, at Spillway they create enabling environment similar to those found at popular beaches outside Zimbabwe.
Tendai Matava of Red Fox said the “beach parties” will offer something new to music lovers who enjoy a day out.
“Red Fox Zimbabwe will be having beach parties at the Spillway every weekend.
“There is going to be a strong line-up of disc jockeys in the likes of DJ Ash Styles and Nivek. DJ Walle from Chez Ntemba, Legendary Sound featuring Smylie and Merciless.
“There is also going to be the entertainment groups SOD and the energetic Barbiefreaks and Team Cute who will spice up the parties,” Matava said.
Matava said he hoped that the concept will be well received by the fans.
He said the beach parties will be a regular feature throughout the festive season including on Christmas and New Year’s days.
He said, besides the beach parties, reggae singer Mic Inity and Nadine Brown will be performing tonight at Red Fox Hotel for the “Summer Chill Out” gigs while tomorrow the venue hosts DJs on rotation, while on Sunday there is the dancehall queen hosted by Judgment Yard.
Mic Inity, born Mike Madamombe, is one of top reggae/dancehall singers currently rocking the airwaves in Zimbabwe.
His claim to fame may have been as a cover version master, but Mic Inity will surely not be remembered for singing other people’s music.
After a lifetime of singing cover versions from yesteryear greats like Bob Marley to recent tunes from the likes of Jah Cure and Mavado, Mic Inity released his debut 13-track album aptly titled “Freedom”.
The album is a social commentary, prayer, dance and collaborative effort, featuring Kenyan Sister Mercy, Jamaican Lutan Faya and rising local dancehall singer and music producer Guspy Warrior.
His booming voice quickly reminds many of Buju Banton and his stage act clearly tells the story of a talented youngster who, if he keeps his feet on the ground, is likely to take the world stage by storm.
At the moment Mic Inity has the crowds eating from his hands and his shows are always well attended.
His brand of reggae is unique and his stage presence is just out of this world.
His music caters for both the young and the mature.
In short, Mic Inity is a star in his own right and already his upcoming album titled “Just Reggae – My Journey” promises to be a big hit on the scene.
