Redcliff dreams of city status

THE Redcliff Municipality is strictly monitoring all building projects to prevent substandard structures as the town works towards becoming a city by 2030.

A number of projects are underway.

“There is a hotel structure under construction at Redcliff turn-off.

“There are many other buildings, which we are strictly monitoring to ensure the buildings are up to standard. “We will not tolerate any substandard structures,” said Redcliff Town Clerk, Gilson Chakauya.

He said rehabilitation work at Bell Medical Centre, and Torwood Hospital, would be completed in two months’ time.

The projects are being funded internally and with devolution funds.

“Through devolution, we are working on our two medical centres.

“Bell Medical Centre rehabilitation will cost US$300 000 and Torwood Hospital would be US$350 000.

“We bought the equipment and we think by November we will be done because there is a little bit of work to be done.

“We are also being assisted by the Public Works Department, particularly at Torwood Hospital,” said Chakauya.
