Redemption road for Zambia

Nations trophy that they won in 2012.
On a positive note, Zambia later won three free points off Sudan after the latter’s appeal was thrown out by the Court of Arbitration in Sports for fielding an ineligible player on June 2, 2012, in 2-0 win over Herve Renard’s side in Khartoum.

That decision lifted Zambia to top Group D on six points while Sudan tumbled from first to third on one point.
Renard said it was hard work all the way down despite their newly found status in Group D on top with maximum six points.

“It is easy to do the mathematics before at the moment we are leading the group with six points this is a fact after four games only one team will go for the play offs in October/November that is our challenge,” Renard said.

“The ideal situation is to win the next two games but sometimes in football it can happen,” Renard said.
“That means we have to be strong in the meeting on Sunday maybe the game on Sunday is the most important. We only have one mission that is to win you have to be good.

Only one target is to go there to get the three points.” Renard will be hoping his misfiring strikers Christopher Katongo and Emmanuel Mayuka can shrug off their impotent form from South Africa to justify Zambia’s status in Group D. Meanwhile, Ghana are fancied to beat a demoralised Sudan side in their 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifier at home on Sunday, kick-off at 6pm. — AFP.
