THE referee for the FC Platinum and Dynamos abandoned game, Quedsani Dirwai, has been suspended by Zimbabwe Football Association.

ZIFA considered his performance on the day as poor.

The suspension comes at a time when Dynamos and coach Saul Chaminuka have also been punished by the PSL disciplinary committee for causing abandonment and putting the game of footbal into disrepute. FC Platinum were awarded three points on a 3-0 scoreline while both Dynamos and Chaminuka were fined.

Dynamos will look back and realise that the move, particularly by Saul Chaminuka, to take matters into their own hands after questionable calls, may have been unnecessary.

The referee joins a number of officials suspended, and the matter put in public by the association since the Premiership started this year.

“The Zimbabwe Football Association wishes to inform the public and

football stakeholders that referee Quedsani Dirwai has been serving a suspension

from officiating Premier Soccer League matches, in line with the Association’s

commitment to upholding the highest standards of refereeing and fair play in the

domestic game,” said Zfa in a statement.

“The suspension, which spans Matchdays 18 to 23 of the current PSL season, was

imposed following the referee’s performance during the league fixture between FC

Platinum and Dynamos, held at Mandava Stadium on 22 June 2025.

“A review of the match, including the Match Commissioner’s report, concluded that Mr Dirwai’s performance fell short of the expected professional standards required at the Premier League level.

“As a result, and in line with Paragraph 21 of the ZIFA Referees Code of Conduct, ZIFA

imposed a six-match-day suspension as a corrective and disciplinary measure.

“ZIFA reiterates its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the game and ensuring

that all match officials operate within the framework of professionalism, accountability,

and consistency.”
