Referendum results out today

“The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission wishes to inform the nation that it has now reached the final stages of collation of the results for the referendum held on the 16th of March 2013. The final result of the referendum shall be announced at 14:30 hours tomorrow (today),” she said.

“The Commission invites all interested parties to attend the final press conference where results shall be announced.”
Justice Makarau said they were not facing any challenges in releasing the results.

“For now there are no challenges and the results will be released within the stipulated timeframe.
“We are almost there and we are verifying results to ensure that we publish correct figures to the nation,” she said.
She said it was not illegal for the media to publish results that are posted at various polling stations countrywide.

“There is nothing illegal with that because the law states that results should be pasted outside the polling station and we believe the results being published are coming from what they are seeing at the polling station.

“I do not know how the results are being translated from the polling stations to the newspapers but all I can say is there is nothing wrong with that,” she said.
