Zimbabwe 1-1 Angola
YOUNG Warriors dropped two crucial points when they played a 1-1 draw against tricky Angola in their third Group A tie in the ongoing African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 Games at Barbourfields Stadium today.
With Malawi beating Mozambique 2-1 in a match that was played at Luveve Stadium to go on top of the table with six points, Zimbabwe slipped to position two with five points. Interestingly, the Young Warriors are due to take on Malawi in their last group encounter which they must they must win at all costs.
Angola, who saw Zimbabwe come from behind to force a draw, remained on position four after gaining a single point that took their total to five.
After a rain soaked first half which failed to produce goals, Angola found the target in the 49th minute courtesy of a lovely Cristofer Mbuini curling free kick from outside the box that beat a diving Kelvin Shangiwa who was in goals for Zimbabwe all systems out.
The Young Warriors were rewarded with a goal in the 79th minute. This was after hard running Thomas Kadyaridzire left a sea of Angolan defenders for dead before he unleashed a thunderbolt to beat towering goalkeeper Sebastiao Coio to send the hordes of Young Warriors fans into a frenzy.
