Zambia 6-1 South Africa
ZAMBIA steamrollered South Africa by hitting eight goals past them in the opening match of the African Union Sports Council Region 5 Under-20 Youth Games football match played at Luveve Stadium on Friday.
Zambia were already cruising five goals ahead when they hit one more in the second half to finish the annihilation of the South Africans.
Zambia took the lead five minutes into the match through Patrick Daka and two minutes later they doubled the score-line via the boot of Patrick Ngoma.
Daka returned to haunt South Africa in the 15th minute as he made it 3-0.
South Africa’s Tsepiso Mahlanga added to his country’s embarrassment by sending the ball into his own net in the 25th minute.
It took only another 15 minutes for Zambia to race away. Harrison Musonda made it 5-0 in the 40th minute.
In the second half Zambia were relentless as South Africa were shocking. Zambia added the sixth goal four minutes after the breather with Ngoma scoring his second goal.
South Africa pulled one back through Felix Noge after Jonathan Daka fouled Wiseman Meyiwa in the box. Daka was shown a red card by the match official for rough play.
The goal didn’t do much to uplift South Africa as they knew that they had already been well beaten by the swish playing Zambians.
