Regional conventions of Jehovah’s witnesses

BULAWAYO Jehovah’s Witnesses will begin their series of three-day annual conventions with the theme “Don’t give up’’. The programme will be held at 29 venues around the country. Starting on 30 June 2017 and continuing for the next 13 weeks, Jehovah’s Witnesses around the country will be participating in a global campaign to personally invite the general public to attend.

Admission to each event is free and no collections are taken. Nearly 13 million people attended our conventions last year worldwide. We hope to have an even larger audience this year.

Jehovah’s Witnesses in Zimbabwe are organising 57 conventions in seven languages. In Bulawayo the first convention was held on 7 July 2017 at the ZITF Hall Number 3 in Ndebele, followed by Shona at the same venue from 28-30 July 2017. From 4-6 August 2017 there will be an English convention at the Amphitheatre and will be followed by a Ndebele convention from 18-20 August 2017 at the ZITF Hall Number 3.

The programme for all conventions will begin at 9.20am of each day. Worldwide there are over 8 000 000 Witnesses in more than 115  000 congregations.

The programme is divided into 52 parts and will be presented in a variety of formats including brief discourses, interviews and short videos.

Additionally one segment of a three-part feature film entitled Remember the wife of Lot will be shown each afternoon.

The dates and locations for all conventions around the country can be found on the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ official website, jw.org

‘‘Challenges in life can rob us of peace and even cause some to think about giving up,’’ says Mr Cohen Chikwira, the spokesman for the witnesses in Bulawayo.

The convention this year will benefit both Witnesses and non-Witnesses because it promises to empower individuals not only to keep enduring but also to cope with challenges productively.
