THE rehabilitation of part of Solomon Mujuru Road (formerly Kirkman Road) has resumed in Harare as the Government has commenced rehabilitation work on some of the major roads in and around the capital.
The works on Solomon Mujuru Road were first conducted in February from N Richards Turn-Off to Sanganayi Inn Junction.
In a statement, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development confirmed the developments.
“The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development wishes to advise the motoring public of a temporary partial road closure of Solomon Mujuru Road (formerly Kirkman) from Thuli Service Station to Madokero turn off to facilitate road rehabilitation works. The road will be temporarily closed all day on Monday, March 30, 2026.
“Motorists are strongly encouraged to use alternative routes and allow extra travel time for delays,” read the statement.
“Please exercise patience, caution, and obey all road signs and instructions from traffic controllers.
“We appreciate your cooperation during this essential infrastructure upgrade. The Ministry regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates the public’s cooperation and understanding during this essential infrastructure upgrade.”
Meanwhile, application of asphalt concrete is also in progress along Chiremba Road, marking a key step towards enhancing road quality, safety, and driving comfort for all road users.
This development comes as the Government has made significant progress in rehabilitating roads under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme.
Through the ERRP2, President Mnangagwa has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to building a modern, interconnected transport network that positions Zimbabwe as a regional logistics hub of choice.
