Reign of terror comes to an end

One of the armed robbers was shot and injured in Bulawayo after he tried to exchange fire with detectives who ambushed him at his home. Philani Dube (23), Jacob Washington Ndebele (31) who were both arrested in Bulawayo and Lovelage Chigagure (28) who was arrested in Chitungwiza are still assisting with investigations.

National police spokesperson Superintendent Paul Nyathi said they had launched a manhunt for three other robbers believed to be the trio’s accomplices.
He said on March 24, Dube, Ndebele and their other accomplice Milton Ncube went to Best Future Supermarket in Bulawayo during the night and found it still open. One of the

robbers got into the shop while the other two closed the doors and stayed at the entrance before pulling a pistol and ordering everyone  to lie down. A till operator was ordered to load all the cash which she had into a plastic bag and the trio disappeared.

Supt Nyathi said five days later, the robbers went to Umambi Beer Gardens where they found an employee taking her stock and ready to close.
Ndebele produced a pistol and pointed it at the employee, threatening to shoot her before demanding cash.

The employee panicked and fled to the back office. Police said the trio then disappeared without stealing anything.
“Investigations carried out led to the arrest of Ndebele on Monday, who then implicated his two other colleagues,” Supt Nyathi said.
